A Director's Reading Series

Join us as in November as actors read excerpts and scenes from lesser known Shakespeare works.

No sets. No costumes. No lights. No admission. Just an intimate engagement between the actors, the audience, and the text; exploring the signature lines, major moments, and compelling characterizations.

A discussion follows outlining important themes, opportunities in production, and possible conceptual interpretations. This is an opportunity for our audience to hear out-loud the rarely-produced works that will be soon-staged by Nebraska Shakespeare and engage in dialogue about the play.

Nine Campers Fencing

Camp Shakespeare is two weeks of fun workshops with hands-on experience performing the works of the world's greatest playwright, William Shakespeare.

Camp Shakespeare helps kids shed the fear of Shakespeare's text, and to discover the magic and fun of the Immortal Bard through performance. Parents repeatedly note a distinct improvement in their children's grades after just one summer with Camp Shakespeare, and many kids come back to the Camp year after year. Parents are also pleased to give their children the opportunity to experience the high quality artistry of Shakespeare.

Camp Shakespeare will run June 23 - July 6, 2014

Shakespeare On the Green!

For 28 years, Shakespeare On The Green has brought free professional productions of Shakespeare’s works to Nebraska.

Each summer we produce two plays – typically one tragedy and one comedy - that run in repertory for three weeks. Our performances have earned national recognition for consistently high-quality productions set in beautiful Elmwood Park and performed for enthusiastic audiences.

In the summer of 2014, we are excited to mount The Tempest and a The Compleat Works of William Shakespeare (abridged).

Shakespeare on the Green offers a great chance for parents to introduce their children to the power and beauty of classical theatre, produced by a professional company of artists from across the country. We have had one wedding performed On the Green, Shakespeare on the Green is a “first date” destination for many, and we have discovered that our growth has been primarily based on first-hand testimonials and personal invitations to attend. We are happy to be a part of bringing together and strengthening our community; families, students, business and social clubs all come together to enjoy the experience.
