2017 Membership Drive

It's an exciting time for Nebraska Shakespeare. The ever-popular Shakespeare On The Green season is only months away. Through contributions from donors like you, we are able to continue to offer FREE ADMISSION to Shakespeare On The Green. To ensure another successful season. we need your help!

Due to the generosity of our sponsors and donors, Nebraska Shakespeare has grown from producing summer plays in the park to providing year-round entertainment and educational programs, Our organization serves more than 40,000 families, students and educators annually. To sustain this important Nebraska cultural tradition, we ask for your support.

This summer at Shakespeare On The Green, Nebraska Shakespeare is proud to present King Lear and The Merry Wives of Windsor. Along with the two summer productions, our educational programs include Shakespeare On Tour and Camp Shakespeare. Both engage students in a fun, supportive environment and enrich their cultural knowledge and artistic appreciation. Last year, Shakespeare On Tour reached over 8,800 students and community members across the state, earning accolades from students, teachers and parents. This fall, we are taking Romeo and Juliet to schools and communities across Nebraska. Staged specifically for middle and high school students, the tour includes educational workshops and supplemental materials for teachers that meet Nebraska’s Education Standards for Language Arts, Social Studies and Fine Arts.

The cost of delivering these quality programs increase each year and all of these amazing opportunities simply can't happen without the generosity of people like you.

Please consider a donation for 2017. All donations are 100% tax-deductible.

2017 SOTG directors bonding over pepperoni

The audition weekend began on Friday with the arrival of The Merry Wives of Windsor director, Dr. John Hardy. John has worked with Nebraska Shakespeare in two previous seasons, as an actor in 2012 (Marcus Andronicus and Malvolio) and as Jaques in As You Like It and director of Othello in 2015. The directors met at Pitch Pizza to catch up and prep for the upcoming weekend.
The following morning, Shakespeare On The Green's first production meeting took place at the University of Nebraska at Omaha's CEC building. In this meeting, Vincent Carlson-Brown, director of King Lear and John Hardy spoke to designers about their unique concepts for each show. Without giving away too much, let me leave you with two words: Vikings and VooDoo. Wanna know more? Join us this summer.

Later that day, John and Vincent headed to Creighton University to hold the first of two days of auditions. Actors came from near and far to audition: UNO, UNL, Creighton University, Drake University, Wesleyan University. Students and professionals from Minneapolis, Denver, New York, LA and Albuquerque were in attendance.

The cast for both shows and the fall tour of Romeo and Juliet are being put together now.  Come to Shakespeare On The Green this summer to see these actors in action and visit to learn more.
